Gidday and Welcome. On behalf of my wife Judy and daughter Libby, we invite you to share this journey with us, as we navigate our way along the road less travelled to fulfilling our dreams of breeding quality, highly fertile Santa Gertrudis cattle. Breeding great temperament, growth for age and with plenty of tropical breed traits to suit all climates and market requirements.
‘Glenelg’ is our Stud name, with 2140 being allotted to us in 2016 as our Stud number. Our property ‘Kiama’, meanders along the banks of the Jinghi Jinghi Creek, our country consists of fertile black soil flats running back into lighter forest country. We are roughly 15 kms to the north of Jandowae on Langlands Road. Our herd of 30 cows is on the smaller end of the breeding scale. As with any Stud, the challenge is to keep finding Bulls that fit into our breeding program for both live mating and AI programs that are in the upper echelon of breed traits, fertility and market suitability. Our family firmly believes the one trait that cannot be compromised is temperament. With this in mind, Coulsonview Buff (Sire- Yelraf Eclipse) was purchased at the Brisbane valley Santa Sale in 2018. The nucleus of our Cow herd is Rosevale genetics and this cross has been putting some very promising calves on the ground. The Santa Gertrudis breed has come a long way since its recognition as a true breed in America in 1940 and then the Santa Gertrudis Association kicking off in Australia in 1954. It is very fulfilling and rewarding to be able to contribute to the Santa Gertrudis breed, going from strength to strength in some small way. Thank you for taking the time to learn about our dream/vision of becoming respected members of the Santa Gertrudis Breed and the Western Downs Santa Sale Group.
