Rose Oak Santa Gertrudis Stud is located in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range, at Flagstone Creek near Toowoomba. Luke and Tanya Hoare registered the stud in 2001 with the breeding focus to be on seed stock. To date we have concentrated on building a herd of quality females.
In 2001 we purchased a heifer from Yarrawonga Waco Stud. Mr & Mrs Bassingthwaighte generously allowed me to select a heifer, this heifer Yarrawonga X163(Ruby), became the foundation of our stud. Ruby had a great show career winning many Santa Gertrudis Exhibits, Tropical Female and Tropical Exhibits at local shows, Tropical female for the Moreton Region 2003, winning her class at Beef Week 2003 and a 3rd at the Ekka in top company. In 2015 Ruby won second place in the Produce of Dam Class at the Brisbane Royal. Ruby has been used in a number of ET programs and as a result produced a number of elite stock that we have shown with great success. Ruby’ last 2 embryos were implanted successfully last year and we are about to take possession of a bull and heifer after they are weaned. We enjoy showing our cattle and aim to compete at the Brisbane Royal, Toowoomba Royal, Beef Week and a few local shows. We believe showing cattle is the best way for people to compare livestock from different producers. Some of our past sires include: Yarrawonga Ruthless(P)(Brisbane Royal Grand Champion Santa Gertrudis Bull), ½ Share in Goolagong Kakadu (Brisbane Royal Reserve Senior Champion Santa Gertrudis Bull) with Phillip Kirkby, Rose Oak Lucifer (AI)(ET) and Rose Oak Prolific (sold in 2021 for $15,000), Yarrawonga Yemen (Brisbane Royal Grand Champion Santa Gertrudis Bull), Watasanta Monkey 2244(P) Sydney Royal Senior Champion. Our current sires are and Watasanta Sydney (P) and Rose Oak Turbine. Our first bull in the catalogue this year is sired by Watasanta Monkey 2244 (P), Sydney Royal Senior Champion.
